Things To Do In Tucson
# 19 Sabino Canyon

Sabino Canyon and Bear Canyon are one of the most beautiful places to walk, hike or jog.

Both have something for all outdoor enthusiasts.  Take a friend and go for a walk up the main road for Sabino Canyon or take the tram up and walk down.  The road is great for jogging and running as well.

There are some gorgeous spots to stop and read, chat or have a picnic.  All of the top photos you see here on the site I took in November of 2008.  There was still water running.

Want more of a challenge?  There are several great hiking trails in Sabino Canyon and Bear Canyon, one of my favorite goes to seven falls in Bear Canyon.  You start at the same place for both canyons.  If you go to seven falls, give yourself about two hours in and two hours to get back.

When you go, take more water than you think you will need.  The Tucson air is dry and you need more water.

There is a Sabino Canyon gift shop on site with some snacks and water and gifts, of course.  They have trail maps and other park information.  Just ask, the staff is very friendly.

I would suggest an annual pass for parking in all of the state parks.  It is $20 and good for one year at Sabino Canyon, Bear Canyon, Madera Canyon, Catalina and other state parks like Mt. Lemmon

The Sabino Canyon tram cost $8 for adults. (prices as of Jan 2009).  The Bear Canyon Tram is $3 for adults.  Bring cash because they do not take cards or checks at the Sabino Canyon ticket booth.

Have fun, Tony Ray Cool
